Animal control gets paid to get close to them, as do croc farmers. I guess the scientist probably works for the state and was on hand to identify the animal.

Or that what likely happened is that based on circumstantial evidence ("I saw Carlos") the jury was basically pointed towards a conclusion of guilt.

But they're still not as dedifferentiated as the stem cells of the blastocyst. From a developmental biology POV, might be interesting to profile their differentiation progress. On the other hand, they may have practical uses that can overcome moral objections to taking apart the blastocyst.
